My Practice

Selecting the right kind of mental health care can be challenging. I find the success of treatment has a great deal to do with the relationship between the patient and therapist. A personalized plan must stem from an understanding of the experience and preferences of a patient, and be developed collaboratively.

Below is some information about my practice:

  • An initial consultation is usually completed in one or two sessions. We discuss the history of your symptoms or concerns (both psychiatric and medical), any past experiences with care, and your perspective on treatment. This information serves as the basis for a diagnosis and plan for treatment. To set up an initial consultation, you may call my office at 212-427-0344.
  • My treatment approach includes both talk therapy (also called psychotherapy) and medications (also called psychopharmacology). Whether one or both of these is appropriate varies from person to person, and may change over time. I generally find that medications are most successful when combined with talk therapy.
  • As a trained psychoanalyst, I apply psychoanalytic techniques to the treatment plan as appropriate, whether a patient is engaged in formal psychoanalysis or in conventional psychotherapy.
  • My sessions are 45 minutes long, although double sessions are possible if needed.
  • Sessions can be for an individual, for couples, or for a family.
  • I do not take insurance, but can work with you on any necessary paperwork to help you receive reimbursement if you have out of network insurance.
